Our Life in the Pacific Northwest

Low tide at Kayak Point

Kayak Point

July 14th 2007

Kayak Point is one of our favorite beaches to go for swimming, crabbing, boating and camping. We recently visited for a low tide and were disappointed. The tide was out quite far but other than crabs and squirting clams, there was nothing of interest.

However, under the pier there were thousands of mussels and barnacles attached to the pilings. Not too exciting, but it was something.

My niece was very interested in the small crabs crawling in the tide pools.

She was brave enough to hold a baby crab she found.

So by the end of the day the older kids weren’t too thrilled with their findings.

However, my niece had a great day!
