I love low tide. It’s one of my favorite activities here in Washington. I used to rush the kids to Mukilteo Beach everytime there was a really low tide, and now that they are older I think the enthusiasm has worn off. I, on the other hand, will cancel any and all plans just so I can experience the extreme low tides that come only a few times a year. During extreme low tides here the most amazing sea life is uncovered.

Spring is in full swing here in the Pacific Northwest. The flowers are in full bloom despite the confusing weather patterns that plagued us during early spring.

One day while driving in Snohomish on our way back from Flower World, my daughter and I stopped at a park we had recently read about. On a whim we decided to walk the trail to see what we might bump into. Fortunately I had my camera with me.

Woodland Park Zoo

Our family has been going to Woodland Park Zoo ever since our kids were very young and I am still in awe every time as I walk through the park admiring the lushness that is so typical of our beloved Pacific Northwest. Don’t get me wrong, I love the animals too (especially when I have my camera in hand) but when I am there I also think of it as a nice little hike. The thought of a flourishing park sitting right in the middle of an urban setting is a brilliant one. City dwellers can take a break from the traffic and get lost amongst the trees (and animals).
